Green Mailbox Ranch

Our ranch is located on the outskirts of Brenham, Texas, close to Greenvine, Texas.  We moved from Houston to Brenham in 2015 to start a new life for our kids and introduce them to a simpler way of life and to enjoy God’s nature.  For a few years we did not know what to call the Ranch, but after Roane’s death, the decision was easy – The Green Mailbox Ranch.

Roane’s favorite place on Earth was our ranch.  While he was scared of every Disney movie, he was fearless on our ranch.  He would dive into ravines, crawl through creeks, run through a forest, walk through grass taller than him, and pick up bugs, spiders, snakes (dead), and other animals without fear.  The moment we would get to our ranch, Roane would always poke out his head through our sunroof and smile big and yell “weeeeeeeeeh” all the way home down our ¾ mile gravel driveway.

Because our ranch is on a road that is fairly overgrown and it’s hard to see our entrance for new visitors, we painted our mailbox bright neon green for folks to easily recognize it.  Whenever we were away from our ranch, Roane would always want to go back to our ranch and whine for the “Green Mailbox, Green Mailbox.”  For him, that was home and his happy place.

Roane died doing what he loved best – spending time with his Daddy.  And Roane died at the place he loved best – on his ranch.  We have built (with the help of dear family friends) “Roane’s Garden” near the spot where Roane went to Heaven, with some of his favorite flowers and things.

Even without Roane, we love our ranch and look forward to spending many years / decades on our ranch, enjoying new memories and adventures while still remembering Roane.

Please come see us at the Green Mailbox Ranch!

A lifetime of memories, hard work, and play, where the Nelsons call home.
